Hikes in Lanai (Hiking Trails)
Lanai does not offer a lot of hiking trails. The Munro Trail is an easier hike while the Kuolanai is classified as rugged and dangerous. The Koloiki Ridge Trail offers spectacular views.
Munro Trail:
Trailhead Directions: Rte. 440 to first major gravel road to the right, at the Y-intersection go left.
Highlights: highest point, Lanaihale 3,370 feet, Norfolk pines, eucalyptus, ironwoods, ferns and wildflowers.
Type: 7-mile dirt road which is popular with off-roaders so keep your eyes and ears open for the roar of engines.
Kuolanai Trail:
Trailhead Directions: Rte. 440 to first major gravel road to the right at the Y-intersection go left across from Maunalei Gulch.
Type: rugged & dangerous footpath.
Highlights: leads to the coast.
Koloiki Ridge Trail
Directions: Starts near the Four Seasons Lodge at Koele.
Type: five mile hike along the Koloiki Ridge Trail.
Please note: Check with the hotel concierge about trail conditions as certain sections of the trail can become dangerous or even impassable during rainy season.
