Getting to the island of Maui

Commercial flights arrive and depart at Maui’s Kahului Airport.

Direct flights from the U.S. mainland to Maui are available on Delta Air Lines and United Airlines

The following airlines offer regular, scheduled inter-island flights: Aloha Airlines, Island Air, and Hawaiian Airlines.

Local Transportation on the Hawaiian island of Maui

Rental cars are available from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Hertz National, Adores, Thrifty,  Kihei Rent-A-Car, Adventure Rent A Jeep, Good Karma Car Rentals, as well as several smaller local companies.

Taxi fares from the Kahului Airport, typically, are $40 to the Ka’anapali area and $18 to Kihei.

The following information on Maui bus service can be useful in planning your vacation in Maui: Shuttle bus services are available between the Kahului Airport and Ka’anapali Beach Resort and the Kihei-Makena area, as well as between Ka’anapali and the West Maui airport at Kapalua and between the Ka’anapali Resort and the Wharf Shopping Center. Fares from the Kahului Airport to Kihei-Makena are around $10.00, and from the airport to Ka’anapali, $13.00; shuttle services between Ka’anapali and Kapalua and Ka’anapali and the Wharf Shopping Center are free.

Media on the Hawaiian Maui island

Free tourist magazines such as This Week, Gold Publications, 101 Things To Do, and other pocket-sized guides full of ads, discount coupons, maps and sightseeing information abound for all the islands and one only has to look anywhere.

The Maui News is the main paper but there are community newspapers that focus on local issues, including the Maui Press, Lahaina News and South Maui Times. Maui Voice is a quarterly magazine promoting conscious living. The Natural Yellow Pages (online only) is a natural product & services directory that covers all islands.

Cable TV Channel 7 has ongoing programs on Hawaii geared for visitors.

Maui has 10 radio stations. Cable TV is available in many areas.
